GET TO KNOW THE PILOTS!
Bill Griffin – Going for the Gold
Bill Griffin has been a hot air balloon pilot since 1978 and has flown at the National Balloon Classic since it began. As a resident of Carlisle, it has been convenient for Griffin to return again each year.
This year, Griffin is flying his balloon called “Golden Griffin III”.
His favorite parts about the National Balloon Classic are the pilot and crew’s camaraderie, the flying (weather permitting), and how well the event is run.
Griffin credits “the magical experience of floating on the zephyrs” as to what inspires him most about being a pilot.
“It uplifts the soul and spirit, as well as the body,” describes Griffin.
